Eduardo Barrios

Eduardo is a Chilean self-taught Surrealist Artist and Sculptor. Currently working from his home studio in Coventry, UK. Featured in ArtistCloseup Magazine September 2003.

Currently, investigating the cycle of life and evolution, focusing in the human form and the spiritual or subconscious being in a Surrealist style. I am not interested in the true likeness of the form but the idea it represent. Due to my love for the ocean , the work Incorporates, waves and various types of bodies of water, often using symbolism to bring forward an idea. Symbolism such as  boats as a right of passage and hope, butterflies to represent re-birth or transmutation from one phase to the next. Here, the ocean is a giver and taker of life.

My last project was a synthesis of traditional handcrafted painting  working with AI technology to give variation and a different perspective to the work as NFTs and limited edition prints, entitled Evolution. 

Evolution aims to investigate the human spiritual  evolution or an altered state of reality. Therefore, my work here is represented both as surrealism paintings and digitaly manipulated artwork both 2D and video file format with augmented sound and motion to further enhance the work.
